Vendor comparison

Halo vs Holistic AI

Holistic AI pairs governance workflows with model testing and guardian agents. Halo enforces policy where AI runs, from browsers and endpoints to model and tool gateways and a sandboxed agent runtime, and keeps spend in check with budgets that act.

The short version

  • Holistic AI’s public materials describe Identify, Protect, and Enforce modules with read-only discovery, model and agent testing, policy workflows, and Sentinel and Operative guardian agents.
  • Halo discovers AI on browsers and endpoints and enforces at gateways and in a sandboxed runtime as the work happens, with approvals, budgets, and Halo Auto in the same platform.
  • Policy simulation and on-demand agent security audits are available now, and a governance copilot that drafts policy from plain language is coming soon.

How Holistic AI describes itself

Holistic AI describes a governance platform organized around Identify, Protect, and Enforce. Public materials list read-only discovery of AI assets, testing of models, LLMs, agents, and multimodal systems, and policy workflows.

The platform page describes Sentinel agents that observe, Operative agents that intervene, a Guardian SDK for observation and intervention, and assessments that cover bias and red-team testing. This summary reflects public materials reviewed in October 2026.

How Halo approaches AI governance

Halo discovers the AI in use through Halo Browser (Chrome and Edge, plus Safari on macOS) and Halo Endpoint (macOS and Windows, with Linux coming soon) and classifies each item as sanctioned, monitored, blocked, shadow, or unknown.

Halo enforces policy at model, MCP and tool, and API gateways and through the Halo AI Gateway for desktop AI apps and coding agents, and a secure agent runtime sets execution boundaries for agents. Budgets, cost analytics, and model routing sit in the same platform.

Holistic AI

Public materials organize the platform into Identify, Protect, and Enforce modules.
Discovery

Halo

Guided rollout

Halo Browser and Halo Endpoint find AI sites, extensions, apps, IDE tools, and local runtimes, and the same sensors enforce policy.

On the roadmap

Read-only discovery for cloud AI services, SaaS AI, and code repositories.

Holistic AI

Public materials describe read-only discovery of AI assets across cloud, code, and SaaS environments.
Testing and evaluation

Halo

Available now

Runtime classifiers cover selected PII, secrets, prompt injection, moderation, and language checks in gateway paths, and on-demand security audits check each agent’s runtime controls.

On the roadmap

Red-team and evaluation evidence linked to each AI system, with built-in prompt-injection and data-leak tests.

Holistic AI

Public materials describe testing of models, LLMs, agents, and multimodal systems, including adversarial testing.
Runtime intervention

Halo

Available now

Gateways allow, deny, or hold actions for human approval, and the secure agent runtime sets boundaries for each agent.

On the roadmap

A guardian agent that watches governance data and acts through Halo’s own gateways and approvals.

Holistic AI

Public materials describe Sentinel agents that observe, Operative agents that intervene, and a Guardian SDK that supports both.
Policy workflows

Halo

Available now

A structured policy editor and policy as code with versioned bundles, audit and enforce modes, simulation with a decision trace, and decision explanations.

Coming soon

Immutable policy versions with history, diff, and restore, plus reviewer approval before publishing.

Holistic AI

Public materials describe a policy library with visual authoring, versioning, and simulation.
Cost and limits

Halo

Available now

Account, agent, and per-user budgets that notify, pause, or stop, cost analytics by agent and model, Halo Auto, and configurable route profiles.

Holistic AI

A product walkthrough describes execution limits and model cost estimates based on observed tokens and public pricing.
Evidence

Halo

Available now

Audit logs and gateway decisions export as CSV and JSON for reviewers.

Coming soon

Framework packs that map EU AI Act and NIST AI RMF controls to Halo checks, with an exportable evidence pack.

Holistic AI

Public materials describe audit trails, evidence linked to controls, and audit and regulatory exports.

Why Halo

Why choose Halo over Holistic AI

Simple, secure, and efficient AI, governed where it runs.

Guided rollout

Enforcement on devices and in browsers

Halo Endpoint can audit or block unapproved AI apps on macOS and Windows, and Halo Browser can audit, warn, or block on supported AI sites.

Guided rollout

Discovery that acts

Halo Browser and Halo Endpoint find AI websites, extensions, apps, IDE plug-ins, and local runtimes, with paths, hashes, and permissions as evidence.

A sandbox for every agent

Agents run as non-root workloads with default-deny network egress and signed configuration, and operators can quarantine and release them at any time.

Policy you can read and test

Structured policy as code runs in audit mode first, simulates against a request with a full decision trace, and explains each gateway decision.

Budgets that act

Account, agent, and per-user budgets can notify owners, pause new operations, or stop active deployments, and Halo Auto picks a model for each request from a curated pool.

Approval at the moment of risk

Higher-impact actions wait for a person to approve them at the gateway, and each decision is recorded with the policy that applied and the reason.

Roadmap

What Halo is building next

Each of these extends the controls Halo runs today.

Capabilities marked coming soon or on the roadmap reflect current plans and may change.

  1. Coming soon

    Governance copilot

Describe a rule in plain language and get a draft policy that passes validation and simulation before a person approves it.

  2. On the roadmap

    Guardian agent

A supervisory agent that watches governance data and acts through Halo’s own gateways and approvals.

  3. On the roadmap

    Cloud, SaaS, and code discovery

Read-only connectors for cloud AI services, SaaS AI, and code repositories add to the inventory Halo builds from browsers and endpoints.

  4. On the roadmap

    Red-team and evaluation evidence

Import results from evaluation and red-team tools as evidence linked to each AI system, with built-in prompt-injection and data-leak tests.

Buyer checklist

Questions to ask in your evaluation

Bring these to each vendor you evaluate. Here is how Halo answers them.

  1. Does the platform enforce policy on each surface, or only report what it finds?

    How Halo answers

Halo enforces on each surface it covers. It blocks unapproved AI apps on devices, audits, warns, or blocks on supported AI sites, and allows, denies, or holds agent calls at the gateway.

  2. How do you test a policy before it blocks real work?

    How Halo answers

Run it in audit mode to record what it would do, or simulate it against a request and read the decision trace, then switch it to enforce.

  3. Can an agent route around the controls?

    How Halo answers

Agents that Halo runs have default-deny network egress, so their model and tool traffic goes through the Halo gateways.

  4. Can budgets stop spend, or only report it?

    How Halo answers

Halo budgets can notify owners, pause new operations, or stop active deployments at the account, agent, and user level.

  5. Which capabilities are generally available today, and which are preview or planned?

    How Halo answers

Halo labels each capability as available, guided rollout, preview, coming soon, or on the roadmap, on this page and across our site.
