Halo Browser is an extension for Chrome and Edge, plus Safari on macOS. It discovers AI site use, AI browser extensions, and account posture signals, and applies audit, warn, or block controls on supported AI sites.

Why it matters
AI use starts in a browser tab
Many people first try AI through a website or a browser extension, before anything is installed or approved. Security teams often lack a record of which AI services and accounts are involved.
- 01
Personal and work accounts for the same AI service can sit side by side in one browser.
- 02
AI browser extensions are easy to install, and some request broad access to the pages people visit.
- 03
Sensitive text can be pasted into an AI chat box with no record that it happened.
Capabilities
See and guide AI use in the browser
Halo Browser combines discovery with lightweight controls, so teams can learn what is in use before deciding what to restrict.
AI site discovery
Recognizes use of supported AI websites in Chrome and Edge, plus Safari on macOS and reports it to Halo, so the inventory shows which AI services people actually open.
AI extension inventory
On Chrome and Edge, lists AI-related browser extensions in enrolled browsers, so reviewers can classify them next to the AI sites in use.
Account posture checks
Surfaces whether a personal or a work account is in use on a supported AI site, so a rule can treat the two differently.
Audit, warn, or block
Each rule runs in audit, warn, or block mode, so you can observe first, coach people with a message, and block when you are ready.
Domain rules
Allow, warn on, or block specific AI domains, and use inventory classifications such as blocked to guide browser decisions.
Regex DLP checks
Define regular expressions for sensitive patterns that Halo checks on supported AI sites. Content inspection needs expanded permissions that your organization approves.
How it works
From install to enforced controls
Policy runs in the browser, so decisions happen where the interaction takes place.
- 1
Deploy the extension
Roll out Halo Browser to Chrome and Edge with enterprise browser policy, and to Safari on macOS with a managed app and preferences. Halo's team guides the rollout.
- 2
Enroll and fetch policy
Each browser enrolls with an account-scoped token, then fetches the policy assigned to it and reports health on a regular schedule.
- 3
Evaluate in the browser
The extension evaluates policy locally. Domain rules, account posture checks, and regex DLP checks each produce an audit, warn, or block outcome.
- 4
Review and tune
Findings and policy matches appear in Halo next to the inventory. Reviewers adjust modes and rules as they gain confidence.
Gradual rollout
Start by observing, then add controls
Choose audit to record matches without interrupting anyone, warn to show people a message, and block for sites and actions you have decided to stop. Moving between modes follows your rollout plan and the evidence you collect.
- Audit mode records matches without interrupting people
- Warn mode shows users a message first
- Block mode stops matching actions on supported sites
- Content inspection stays off until you approve it
FAQ
Questions, answered
Halo Browser supports Chrome and Edge, plus Safari on macOS. Other browsers are not supported today. Some signals differ by browser. For example, AI browser extension inventory is available on Chrome and Edge, and Safari does not expose the APIs that inventory needs.
Standard collection covers metadata about AI site use, extensions, and account posture. DLP checks need content inspection, which requires expanded permissions that your organization approves, and it is off in the standard configuration. Inspection applies to supported AI sites.
The outcome follows the mode you chose. Audit mode records the match, warn mode shows the person a message, and block mode stops the action on that site. Rules apply on supported AI sites and use domains, account posture, or regular expressions that you define.
Rollout is guided. For Chrome and Edge, Halo provides policy templates for enterprise browser management. For Safari on macOS, deployment uses a containing app and managed preferences. Browsers enroll with an account-scoped token, and Halo's team helps you plan the first group.
Halo Browser sees what happens inside supported browsers. Halo Endpoint surveys applications, runtimes, and files on macOS and Windows devices. Both feed the same AI inventory, so your team reviews browser and device findings in one place.
