AI governance glossary

Agent identity

Agent identity is a distinct identity assigned to an AI agent so its access, credentials, tools, and permitted actions can be governed.

Why it matters

When agents share a user identity, it can be harder to determine which system initiated an action or which permissions should apply.

How it works

An organization assigns an agent an identity and links it to scoped credentials, tools, and actions. Policy can then evaluate agent activity separately from user activity.

How Halo approaches it

Halo separates agent identity from user identity, credentials, tools, and action scope, then applies configured controls through supported gateways and runtimes.
